ANSWERS:
1) SHTF stands for "Sh-t Hits The Fan." This refers to anything from a big natural disaster to a terror attack to a total societal collapse that results in a "Mad Max" scenario.
2) TEOTWAWKI stands for "The End Of The World As We Know It."
3) Argentina, which had a vibrant economy and a very strong and well off middle class until the collapse.
4) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also know as the Mormon Church.
5) A minimum of one gallon per person per day is needed for drinking and cooking.
6) CME stands for Coronal Mass Ejection. This is an electro-magnetic storm on the sun which impacts the Earth's magnetic field. A large enough CME could destroy our power grid.
7) EMP stands for Electro-Magnetic Pulse. This is the effect of a nuclear bomb that is detonated high in the atmosphere, where the magnetic radiation of the explosion "rides the waves" of the Earth's magnetic field and then destroys the power grid.
8) Since nuclear fallout is the charged particles of dirt and debris from the explosion, there is no fallout associated with an air burst nuclear explosion.
9) There are actually three main power grids: Eastern US, Western US and Texas.
10) If there is no panic buying and no "run on the stores," the grocery stores have about three days' worth of food at any one time.
